...for the end of health care as we know it. Better get my change major form signed and turned in. Da Prez is hollain' at me.

un borracho --- 190 days ago -

Oh Jesus he just said he is going to use reconciliation. He just said he wasn't even thinkining about it TWO weeks ago. I also like how it says it will cost 100 billion a year when it's going to cost 1 trillion for 6 years. -If we need it so badly why wait for 4 years to make it work? Another 8 years for union workers. GOP plans would be put into action right away!

deborah --- 190 days ago -

sounds like "no child left behind" math. i say we throw everyone out in the white house and start over. our founding fathers stated that if the government ever got too big or not for the people, to abolish it and start over. of course, now if you said something... you would be considered a terrorist. seriously, we NEED to start over. putting term limits would be #1, #2, they can't give themselves a raise, #3 they would have the same benefits as every other tax payer in america.

PAULA --- 190 days ago -

Still waiting to see all that is or is not done - Hoping for change - yet leary - I agree with deb, but how?...who?

un borracho --- 190 days ago -

Paula, Obama was supposed to be the one that changed the way Washington works. What happened? He is a liar just like about 99% of them, true. What makes him worse is the fact that wants the govenment to schedule, and oversee my piss breaks all the while telling me he isn't.

It's Me! --- 190 days ago -

Y'all might like hearing this. My cousin posted on Facebook that the Massachusetts legislature has introduced a bill to make circumcision of infant boys ILLEGAL. Like they don't have anything more important to worry about than infringing on someone's rights and freedom of religion. JEEPERS!

un borracho --- 190 days ago -

Yes! These are the types of things we need to focus on.

un borracho --- 190 days ago -

So, Jim Matheson is a House Rep from Utah. He was one of the DEMs that voted against the health care bill the first time around saying he was against it. Today, Obama appointed his brother as a judge to United States Court of Appeals. Now his Jim has suddenly changed his mind, and is now undecided. This sound familiar? It should.

billie --- 190 days ago -

We are mostly all aware that our elected officials are all spinning out of control. America may never recover from the chaos they have created. I don't hear anything from any of them that makes me believe there is a workable plan emerging from all the uproar.

June --- 190 days ago -

There isn't a workable plan. But obama is hell-bent on passing a healthcare bill come hell or high water, and he'll do whatever he has to in order to accomplish his goal.

FiftyAndFit --- 190 days ago -

Obama's success as a president is supposedly hinging on this bill. It it fails then some predictions have it that he will be a one term president. So, with that said, I wonder if what is done in this bill (under Obama) can be undone should there be a new kid in town in Washington in 2012. Hmmm.

harleygalnc --- 189 days ago -

I think he will be a one term President anyway... Its time for the people to make a difference.

billie --- 189 days ago -

Give me a clue in case I've missed something. What, actually, has this president done that can be considered a positive benefit to the American people?

PAULA --- 189 days ago -

There is alot of negative - actually, there was before Obama even got elected, and I'm not naive and I'm watching, however, I also must take in account he has only been in office for a short while, AND, there is no bi-partisan. I dont think there will ever be bipartisan, regardless of who is in office. Someone asked me during the election process if I trusted Obama, my response was, and still is, I am learning to trust GOD, I dont trust people, I watch.... as the saying says "Talk is Cheap" So I'm not kicking our president, I am watching...at present.... I'm not loving the action...but I'm watching. A friend of mine put some info on here in reference to the health care.... it was not good....I feel she is an honest person...so it was not based on hating Obama....hence....these are some of the things that may me go Hmmmmm

PAULA --- 189 days ago -

btw......is affordable health care for every AMERICAN really something attainable.....or is it just a dream?

Vampire Mistress --- 189 days ago -

See this is why I have stayed away from WU but I have to say my peace on this matter....coming from someone who just had surgery a few days ago and will be going back n 2 weeks for more....You can not say you want change and then not have the patience to wait for it. Obama has only been in office a year GOOD GOD GIVE HIM A BREAK.....if it was ole' dumba*s Bush all you would be like let him get his feet warm and crap. I am for Healthcare plan....I am not a healthy person by no fault of my own and I cant get a job bc then I wouldnt have insurance for myself or my daughter and those of you who know me know my daughters condition as well as mine. Rob since you are so against it why dont you pay my 25,000 dollar surgery bill from just one of my surgeries and how about you fork over 1600 dollars a month in medicine for my daughter that she has to have to keep her out of the hospital and GRAVE! Come on now.....judging a bit to quick....find something else to b*tch about!! PEACE OUT!

It's Me! --- 189 days ago -

Have to disagree Vamp - Bush got nothing but criticism in the press whereas obama gets his a$$ kissed on a daily basis by the press. I am sorry that you and your daughter have major health problems, but why do I have to pay for it? I have to eat every day, but I don't expect anyone else to pay for my food. With obama's healthcare plan, which he is determined to ram through congress come hell or high water, those of us who are able to work will have to pay and pay and pay for everyone else who cannot or will not work. That's called SOCIALISM and we are not supposed to be a socialist country. We were founded on the principles of DEMOCRACY. And I know from experience that if you go to the hospital and talk to the billing department, they can check out your financial situation and write off all or part of your bill if it is determined that you will not be able to pay it off. Rob since you are so against it why dont you pay my 25,000 dollar surgery bill from just one of my surgeries and how about you fork over 1600 dollars a month in medicine for my daughter that she has to have to keep her out of the hospital and GRAVE. Don't you get it - with this healthcare bill WE WILL BE PAYING YOUR BILLS. I am already burdened enough with my own bills and don't need to take on anyone else's.

deborah --- 189 days ago -

i am all for a new and more economic health care plan, but NOT the one they are trying every means available to get it to pass. (giving a judgeship to a voters brother) please!! government money (your tax dollars, that YOU pay) to fund abortions? no, i'm not supporting that one.

billie --- 189 days ago -

Paula, it is not in my nature to hate anyone. You've known me long enough that you should know me better than that. I expressed my strongest objection to any political candidate was their stand on abortion. My Christian beliefs do not allow me to see abortion as anything other than the murder of a human being. I,also, believe that disclosure of the background of any political candidate is not an invasion of privacy. Being straightforward about who you are and what you have accomplished would lead me to hope that honesty and integrity would be foremost in decision-making. I, and many others, do not understand the cloudiness of the background information of the man who became the president of our country. Our country is in chaos......did the president cause it all? No...but collectively, the people that we have put in office have failed us. Bipartisanship of a sort is probably at work. Democrats and Republicans alike are probably assured that their time of privilege is about to run out. That may be the only point on which they are in agreement. Politicians don't give a care about health care and unemployment. They have good health care and it is guaranteed for life and they are employed. Even if we vote all of them out of office, they still will be living off the backs of the working people who will still be paying the ever escalating taxes.

deborah --- 189 days ago -

i'm sick and tired of hearing all this republican and democrat crap. i just want elected officals who care about this country and the people in it. people who aren't running to see what they can get out of it, but to get this country out of debt. unfortunately, i don't know if that is even possible.

FiftyAndFit --- 189 days ago -

The US. Supreme Court ruled in favor of big business and political campaigns recently. I doubt if anything will change for the better politically. Were it that there was a spending cap in place for each candidate then it could be different. Money rules this country. America for sale to the highest bidder. The citizens are just pawns that the politicians patronize and the news networks can incite to anger between each election.

G-Momma --- 189 days ago -

Fit, "It it fails then some predictions have it that he will be a one term president." I think he will be a one term president if it PASSES!! The majority of Americans don't want this type of socialism. One fine example of govt. in business---the POST OFFICE. I had to go there today because my regular locally owned little postal place was closed for remodeling and expansion. Meanwhile---the US POST OFFICE goes 7 Billion in the hole for 2009. Why can the little ma-pop postal place be expanding and the govt. one runs in the ground??? I also like my privately owned postal place because it's clean, friendly and I get faster service. =) (nothing like the dirty, slow USPS office)

un borracho --- 189 days ago -

I'm sorry I am late in responding. As someone has already said, Vamp, I am already paying your bills. I have been paying taxes since I was 15 years old. I am now 26. I have paid Medicare and SS taxes, and neither will I ever see a dime return to me. I am extremely sorry that you have had a bad run of luck with health. I know your daughter hasn't had the best of luck with it either. Sometimes we all need help. I am not denying you that. I am glad you were able to obtain some if you really needed it. The problem is just as you said you are not willing to get a job because then you would lose your free ride. This very mentality is a big portion of the problem we are facing right now, and will only worsen. I am also not saying our current system is perfect because it's not. I would like to see something done, just not what is being done. If you listen to Obama's speeches he really puts emphasis on "Physician Assistants". I believe this is because he KNOWS MDs are going to be pushed so thin when this passes, PA's are going to be the only ones we can have access to. He knows this. I am not saying there is anything wrong with a PA at all, I just believe he knows there is going to be a drag on the system and he is ready putting that in our heads. Obama wants to do away with Saturday delivery with the USPS along with other cuts of services. If the government can't even run this, are you going to be ok with them cutting doctors visits out on weekends?

un borracho --- 189 days ago -

I also like my privately owned postal place because it's clean, friendly and I get faster service. =) (nothing like the dirty, slow USPS office) Two works: Union Workers

FiftyAndFit --- 189 days ago -

One of the friendliest guys in the postal service in Wil.mington works at the one on Lennon Drive. Three years ago I was talking with him and told him of a way to cut down expenses in the postal service - put an end to bulk mail. Well he told me that bulk mail is what is keeping them in business and, as now is the case, in debt. Figure all the junk mail we get - it goes in the trash. A lot of it never makes it to recycling so it adds to the landfills across the country. It costs to ship the bulk mail - gas, handlers, time on the clock, airplane fuel. Some of our oil comes from the Middle East. According to the VoteVets.org Iran took money made from oil sales and used it to build weapons, some of which were used to kill American troops in Iraq. Some countries in the middle east sponsor terrorism against the USA. So in a way the mail system we as Americans subsidize can actually support the killing of Americans by our enemies. Sheesh.

Vampire Mistress --- 189 days ago -

Oh and so bc I dont have a job now doesnt mean I havent paid for everyone else as well I have worked for 11 years of my life....I am just saying you already pay for it in taxes why bc I cant get a job I am making everyone pay for my bills....ummmmm no I paid my dues as well and I deserve to be able to have surgery and not worry if I am going to die. The whole system is fu*ked and I want a job but cant get one making over 300 dollars a month or I loss my insurance and how can I pay for insurance and daycare so I can work and earn my 300 a month all of it goes out for the same thing....so since you guys seem to know it all what do you think the solution is? AGAIN JUST INCASE YOU MISSED IT: I WANT A JOB AND NOT A FREE RIDE!

Vampire Mistress --- 189 days ago -

I am not a healthy person by no fault of my own and I cant get a job bc then I wouldnt have insurance for myself or my daughter NO WHERE IN THAT STATEMENT DOES IT SAY I AM NOT WILLING TO GET A JOB!!! JUST WANNA CLEAR THAT UP BC EVEN THOU I WOULD LOSE MY INSURANCE I STILL HAVE BEEN STEADING LOOKING FOR WORK FOR OVER A YEAR!!! THAT INCLUDES GOING ON INTERVIEWS AND WALKING PLACE TO PLACE TO SEE IF ANYONE IS HIRING!

un borracho --- 189 days ago -

Just incase you didn't get the memo, the days of entry level jobs to where you just show up and get full coverage are OVER. You need to have a college degree and marketable skills to be in the good benefits boat. That or a government employee. But you are going to say that you don't have time to go to college, etc etc. The system gives people all the chances in the word people just fail to act on them. The state will pay for your day care, furnish your transportation and everything. All you must be willing to do is show up and make decent grades. There truely are no excuses.

FiftyAndFit --- 189 days ago -

Oh that conversations in forums took place in real time as a a phone call does, with interaction between the posters. It would be great to be able to ask and answer questions back and forth. Much gets lost because of this and conclusions are drawn and conjectures made without all the facts needed to make a judgement. I am very guilt of this myself. In Vamp's situation, well, it sounds like a situation right from an article I posted a link to a few days back. That article can be found in the "economic depression" posting on WU. Vamp, your situation is one that many are in now. You are a victim of a system that actually punishes its participants and that is no fault of yours. Work and get punished financially. It is messed up. Were I in your shoes I would do the same thing for my child. My question that keeps coming back to me is this: where is your child's dad? If he is absent from the picture I empathize with you. That is major part of societal problems - absentee fathers. I don't understand fathers that walk away from their children. I hope this isn't the case with your child's daddy. Only in circumstances where a dad is violent would consider it better for the child that he is absent from the child's life. Economically it really has played on society's wallet when children get no support from a parent that is supposed to support them. The other parent is stuck with the bills and the emotional unrest, child care, the list goes on. Then the parent is almost forced to find other means of financial help when he or she is unable to maintain the house and bills. In the area of disengaged fathers I do believe the president has done some good. I have seen ads run on TV promoting fraternal interaction in the home. The unknown answer is, are the ones that need to heed this televised message seeing it ? We may never know. Vamp, there is no easy answer to your situation. Just keep being a good mom. Karma is a good thing and if you persevere you will see good come back, not that good karma is your motivation to be a good mom; your unending love for your child will continue to be what keeps you fighting and you will be stronger because of it.

It's Me! --- 189 days ago -

The Federal Government runs Medicaid and it's broke. They run Medicare, and it's broke. They run the post office, and it's broke. Just about everything the Federal government touches is messed up. And they want to run EVERYONE's healthcare? I don't think I like that idea. Maybe when they decide that whatever healthcare package they force upon the general public is good enough for THEM also, I'll consider accepting it. But since they don't have to worry about their own healthcare being totally screwed up ... nope, I don't want Obama's "change" either. And I agree with Billie - I cannot in good conscience vote for anyone who wants to fund abortions. I also believe it is murder. I know that's not the politically correct view, but just because something is politically correct doesn't make it morally right.
