I can't believe she thinks she is qualified to judge anyone!! She admitted to pot smoking in 2003 during the custody hearings for her gf's child. She had how many foreclosures and late property tax payments??

Dae Yum Yum --- 221 days ago -

She admitted to pot smoking I dont know a lot of people who haven't!! lol lol I mean....I haven't, but I only have 1 or 2 other friends that haven't either. ha ha haa

G-Momma --- 221 days ago -

I personally could care less about her smoking pot----HOWEVER---as someone that desires to UPHOLD the laws pertaining to other people....she can't be a law breaker.

Dae Yum Yum --- 221 days ago -

Do yuo think that NONE of the judges EVER broke laws? I'm sure we have all broken them. lol YA'LL KNOW WHO YA'LL ARE!!! ha ha ha ha

Carmen --- 221 days ago -

ok well i did text just once while driving......but i didnt inhale while i was doing it!!! so im cool right? LOL

G-Momma --- 221 days ago -

Did you pay your taxes on time Carmen??--if so, then you"re okay. ;) Ms.Boseman failed to pay taxes, not to mention nearly getting the poor family buying her double wide evicted. ---which brings up the somewhat RIP OFF of charging that family 9% interest!! I have never met Julia----but all her "drama" speaks for it's self.

June --- 221 days ago -

I agree - can't think of too many more lawyers in Wilmington who are LESS qualified than she is. I hope she doesn't run unopposed!

Dae Yum Yum --- 221 days ago -

I have never met Julia I met her. but as a mom....not as a politician. So, she was really nice. Her and her ex partner. It's a shame they didnt work out :o(

FiftyAndFit --- 220 days ago -

I have to agree. If you were breaking the law then that disqualifies you to enforce it. I do admire her for stepping down from the senate seat to soend time with her son. That, of course, is a side issue in this case of a judge's seat.

ItsAWarnerfulLife --- 210 days ago -

Well personally..I think having done it and admitting it qualifies her more than someone who never has admitted. Why? Because she can walk the walk from both angles and doesn't hesitate to talk the talk of truth. She's honest and human. And I support her run. I would respect someone that knew what they were talking about regarding drugs and the use of and the quitting of before I would trust someone that had a higher than mighty attitude because they have supposedly never done anything illegal. Just because she did it..doesnt mean she would hold a dishonest seat as a judge. To me her character stands high because she was honest and upfront about it. She might be able to see to it the ludicrous and useless act of wasting taxpayers money to house marijuana smokers in jail when there are others in need of the space. Like child molesters and crack dealers. Takes someone with some common sense to make changes..and common sense comes from experience. Just my two. Don't get me wrong..I don't smoke the stuff anymore..used to...but it's just not the nations biggest problem. I've always believed if everyone would put down weapons and alcohol..and smoke instead...the world would be a lot better off. Anyway..the key to a successful justice system is honesty and fairness...and she is both of those. SO what she ahd foreclosures. She's not expempt form this pissy economy. And late on taxes? So? LOL

billie --- 210 days ago -

Okay, I suppose good character and self-discipline are not very important as long as you know how to interpret the law. There are people in prison who have committed atrocious crimes who know the law concerning many crimes. I wouldn't want them as a judge just because they knew the crimes from experience.

City Girl --- 210 days ago -

I happen to know Julia, one of my best friends daughter was the nanny for her son.....She is a very nice person who loved her son very much. I know the inside scoop and the partner was the troubled one in this situation.

ItsAWarnerfulLife --- 210 days ago -

Billie...good character and self-discipline are earmarks of those who have learned from mistakes and righted their wrongs. NOONE is BORN with it that keeps it day in and day out with no falls at all or no mistakes in life. Politicians are the biggest liars in the world. I'd rather have one around that admits to imperfection and walks a straight path after mistakes and tries to do right and set examples of how to right wrongs from there appointment on than one who deceives their entire term and acts like they have never made a mistake in their life. Give an honest person credit, and trust the one who divulges their weakness, humbly. And Smoking pot, and paying taxes late, and falling victim to a ruff economy does not equal being undeserving of achievement. The word JUDGE is misused for the seat...in my opinion. and again I believe her to be a fair person who has already done alot for the state of NC as senator.

"Different strokes for different folks" is so meaningful.

June --- 209 days ago -

Well personally..I think having done it and admitting it qualifies her more than someone who never has admitted. Why? Because she can walk the walk from both angles and doesn't hesitate to talk the talk of truth. Really? How about if she was a child molester? Or a murderer? Or had embezzled money? Just because she admitted she did something wrong doesn't excuse the behavior. I don't think someone who admittedly smokes dope and doesn't pay their taxes should run for ANY public office, and I certainly wouldn't vote for anyone that I know did that. Same as someone who cheats on their spouse. If they aren't faithful to their spouse, then they sure as he11 won't care about what the public thinks and won't think they have to be "responsible" to their voting public. Just one woman's opinion.

billie --- 209 days ago -

June, you are not one woman alone in your opinion. We are many and we appreciate those who articulate our thoughts. We possibly are a silent majority. My question is "why are we silent". The squeeky wheel gets the oil, doesn't it?

June --- 209 days ago -

You know me Billie - I'm not silent about much ... I am very opinionated and not afraid to share my opinion!

G-Momma --- 209 days ago -

Julia's personall problems with her ex lover are the least of my concern. HER failure to pay taxes on time----are A HUGE PROBLEM.

G-Momma --- 209 days ago -

BTW---she doesn't happen to own the Boseman sports store does she?? I though of shopping there the other day...and then quickly decided not to incase she owned it. I wouldn't put a penny in her pocket.

June --- 209 days ago -

I don't think she does, but who knows? She could be part of the family.

City Girl --- 209 days ago -

Bozeman's Sports is owned by Julia's brother.... With this economy alot of people don't pay their taxes on time!!!!"ME" for one.Am I HUGE PROBLEM TOO....????

billie --- 209 days ago -

LOL = just on a whim, I typed "qualifications to be a judge in North Carolina" in my search engine. What article do you suppose came up? Check it out: http://www.wwaytv3.com/boseman_responds_questions_about_qualifications_judge_seat/01/2010 It's about Boseman wanting to be a Judge. About 14 out of 15 comments about her were negative. Hmmm. Still didn't find out what the qualifications were though ... still searching ...

City Girl --- 209 days ago -

I'm not running for any office,Was just wondering if thats the way she felt about everyone that didn't pay their taxes on time!!!!!.

June --- 209 days ago -

Still didn't find qualifications, but found a few DUTIES: District Courts district, court, trial Trial Courts, or District Courts, can be divided into four categories, civil, criminal, juvenile and magistrate. Like the Superior Court, District Court sits in the county seat of each county. It may also sit in certain other cities and towns, specifically authorized by the General Assembly. Civil cases such as divorce, custody, child support and cases involving less than $10,000 are heard in District Court, along with criminal cases involving misdemeanors and infractions. The trial of a criminal case in District Court is always without a jury. The District Court also hears juvenile cases involving children under the age of 16 who are delinquent and children under the age of 18 who are undisciplined, dependent, neglected or abused. Magistrates (see magistrate section) accept guilty pleas for minor misdemeanors, accept guilty pleas for traffic violations and accept waivers of trial for worthless-check cases among other things. In civil cases, the magistrate is authorized to try small claims involving up to $5,000 including landlord eviction cases. Now, reading through that and having read about some of Ms. Boseman's recent "problems" - do you really think she'd make a good district judge? This just reinforces my opinion that no, she doesn't!

June --- 209 days ago -

That should say "no, she wouldn't." My bad.

billie --- 208 days ago -

I'm not running for any office,Was just wondering if thats the way she felt about everyone that didn't pay their taxes on time!!!!!. My comment was meant to tease. I joke alot. Sometimes it helps to defuse what could become an explosive conversation.

PAULA --- 205 days ago -

Well personally..I think having done it and admitting it qualifies her more than someone who never has admitted. But when did she admit it? When it came to light. She did not choose to have a news conference to inform the people of any negatives that may be viewed by her public. Now I'm not saying this is required... however, she gets no brownie points for opening up after the news came forth. Not throwing stones, but too much history that does not align with the right side of the law, for her to sit in the seat of judge.
